A down home atmosphere with some of the city's best record shops, great murals, an active calendar - the Lower Haight is possibly urban San Francisco's least pretentious (and touristy) neighborhood.
Toronado provides an astounding number of excellent brews on tap, Nickies is a favorite for dancing, and the Groove Merchant is highly regarded among record hounds.
Centrally located and adjoining Alamo Square, the (upper) Haight, Hayes Valley and Duboce Triangle, the Lower Haight is also a great stop on sunny side walks/rides/etc.
