An island with eyepopping views, 5 wineries (the grapes are imported) and only 2 places to eat can't be all bad? :)
Also, it's only $2 and 10 minutes away, via Muni Bus 108.
The naturally formed Yerba Buena Island is steep, largely forested, and provides a variety of hiking trails over/around/under the Bay Bridge. Treasure Island was filled in for the Golden Gate International Exposition in the late 1930's, used by the military during WW2... and is clearly a bit worse for the wear. The SF Planning Commission recently approved a massive redevelopment project - but these things take a while :)
In the meantime - the beautifully massive "Bliss Dance" sculpture (by Marco Cochrane for Burning Man 2011) dances by herself (unless you join...) along the waterfront until October 2011!
